Personality

Understanding personality is an important component of the major/career decision-making process.  Your learning style, your preference for ways of doing things, and the way you view the world are all part of your personality.  These things should be taken into consideration when choosing majors and careers.  For example, if you find that paying attention to minute details is very trying, you most likely would not enjoy occupations that require you to be extremely detail-oriented.  You may decide that you learn best in academic programs that provide a lot of hands-on experiences rather than straight lectures and book learning.  Or you may be just the opposite.  All of these things are important to making a wise major/career decision.

Speaking with your academic advisor and/or a career consultant can help you to understand how your personality relates to major and career options.  The following web links might also be of assistance.
