Interests

Interests include activities that you like to do and things that you want to learn more about.  The following questions will help you to assess your interests :

  • What activities do you enjoy doing the most?  Why?

  • What activities do you enjoy the least?  Why?

  • What subjects have you enjoyed the most in school?  Why?

  • What subjects have you enjoyed the least?  Why?

  • What do you do in your leisure time?  What do you enjoy about these activities?

  • Do you have hobbies?  What are they?  Why do you pursue them?

Information about your interests is critical to a successful career decision.  Imagine choosing a career that has nothing to do with your likes or interests.  Would you be satisfied with that choice?  Speaking with your academic advisor and/or a career consultant can help you to define your interests and to understand how they relate to major and career options.  The following web links might also be of assistance.
